Does God promise to not give us more than we can handle?
I have said these things to you, that in me you may have peace. In the world, you will have tribulation. But take heart; I have overcome the world.”John 16: 3
If you are like me you need prayer today, and may be asking the Lord,”if not now when?” Should you find yourself there pray to God. Do not be ashamed to admit when life throws you a bad pass and you catch it. Catching it does not mean you wanted it, deserved it or should have known it was coming? The degenerating relationship, troubling news, troubled kids, emotional problems or weakness in the flesh? Each one of us has met the maker of these tribulations at some point in our lives. I used to think I was immune? Why do you ask did I think that? The only logical answer that I could come up with is because the devil is a liar, he came to seek, kill and destroy but the Lord did not let him. I am alive today because Jesus kept His promise the moment I decided to pray to God.
“No temptation has overtaken you that is not common to man. God is faithful, and he will not let you be tempted beyond your ability, but with the temptation, he will also provide the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it.” 1Corinthians 10: 13
Without disclosing personal details about any one situation unless you want to, I ask that you pray for not only yourself but for anybody else walking in your shoes, in need of intervention from a power inaccessible to man. Pray until something happens. Love until hate, fear, envy or insecurity dissipates, and give the Lord your tears. Finally, lose the attitude that got you here in the first place. I have come to realize that my beliefs, attitude, and missteps caused me to stumble more times than I care to count. With certainty, in a life gone array if nothing changes inside of you nothing changes on the outside of you?
“Lord I know You don’t make mistakes, forget, or give us more than we can bear.” But, today Father, I’m struggling! It seems I’m at a lost. In all honesty, I wasn’t prepared for what you have allowed. Sorry, but I had to say that!
Lord please, “if not now when?” Give us strength in this time of weakness? That’s all we ask!”
You see we have come to a foreign place engulfed with opportunities for making bad decisions, taking wrong turns, detrimental detours. And if this is not painful enough, we do not know how we got here. It’s like your children lost track of time, “misplaced their mind and lost their way, all at the same time.” My Lord, we need you more than ever before. This time, If you knock, we promise to answer the door!
The thing is, we are seeing things best left in the dark; doing things that have come to light, ashamed of both.
Lord if not now when?
