Whether Christian, Atheist or other; debates centered around religion and or faith often arise. Sadly these days hard-core disagreements are rarely resolved utilizing God‘s Word. For instance; early on,  when church reality show “Preacher’s of LA ” first came on the scene, tattoos was one of the issues addressed in one of their earlier episodes.

The skinny was: “Is it OK for believer’s to get tattoos.”

Well to my surprise, during the debate,  not one preacher involved pulled out the Word. Now even I know, Jesus clearly defines how Christian’s are to view getting tattoos and body piercings, “there is no room for confusion.”

So, why did not one man of God, in Preacher’s of  LA, take time to teach their viewers what God’s Word says about tattoos? How could they love The Lord and not be moved to provide people looking up to them some clarity?

My God! Instead of using God’s Word for spiritual backup, they opted to sell-out. Each preacher involved in the discussion refused to acknowledge the Word of God. They betrayed him!

And even though God’s Word was readily available, nobody dared to present it.

Pastor Halzip told viewer’s “God loves all of us, including people with tattoo’s.” That’s trust, but you don’t hide the Word to appease the world! God detests I don’t us piercing and defaming his beautiful bodies.  How can ink and piercings make his creations any more beautiful that they already are?

Here’s thing; “when we accept the Lord as our Savior we become new creatures, old things are put away, we no longer conform to the world.” That said; what ever you had tattooed on your body before accepting Christ as the Head of your life is forgiven. That forgiveness i covers past sins; not future ones, “like continuing to tattoo your body!”

In Preacher’s of LA, not one man of God stood firm on the Word, as it pertains to what God says about tattoo’s. This is troubling. Pastor Ron even said he would get one if it would help lead more young people to Christ.  “Are we to believe God approves of us making deals with the devil?” When you hear religious leaders entertain rhetoric like this, you come to understand why the church has lost so much credibility.

I mean really? As a Christian, would you smoke weed if Satan told you doing so would attract more young people to your church? Don’t they smoke enough without religious folk joining the band-wagon? Really soldier’s for Christ, is there nothing else you can do, considering all of your biblical training, that would be more effective in your work to save souls than encourage  them to sin?

There are differences of opinion about whether Christian’s should get tattoo’s; however at the end of the day, opinions are just that. Religious leaders should never allow themselves to entertain opinions on matters that God already addressed. When people do this, religious leaders or lay people, it ‘s because they don’t want to hear what God has to say on the matter!

“This is not good.”

The Bible is clear that some things are worth fighting for. God expects his follower’s to take a stand against false teachers and “contend for the faith that was once for all entrusted to God’s Holy people” (Jude 1:3).

Wisdom tells us; “Everything is permissible – but not everything is beneficial. Everything is permissible – but not everything is constructive.” Christian tattoos may be “permissible,” but are they beneficial and constructive? Corinthians 10:23

We are also to “destroy arguments and every lofty opinion raised against the knowledge of God, and take every thought captive to obey Christ” (2 Corinthians 10:5).

Clarity comes when our hearts, eyes and minds surrender to a power higher than ourselves, which is Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior.

“This is a just a  little-bit on what the bible says about Tattoos; in my opinion it’s pretty clear.”

But first, let me say this; of course some people who’ve tattooed their bodies will get to heaven, just like some of us who’ve lied, stole, cheated, committed adultery, worshiped idols, and denied the Savior.  The difference is, we came to our senses. Now don’t get it twisted!

Just because a preacher tells you it’s OK to get your body all marked up doesn’t make it biblically correct.  That’s why God gave us the Word so we can see and read it for ourselves! Ignorance on matters of spiritual importance will be no excuse in the end.

Above all else; get clarity!
