Prayer for strength to face your own personal nightmares

Start your day with Jesus!

Then Moses summoned Joshua and said to him in the presence of all Israel, “Be strong and courageous, for you must go with this people into the land that the LORD swore to their ancestors to give them, and you must divide it among them as their inheritance.  The LORD himself goes before you and will be with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged.” (Deuteronomy 31:6-8)

“Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power.” (Ephesians 6:10)

“Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the LORD your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you.”

Perhaps you’re in a place where life no longer matters, people seem dispensable, and the road before you looks impossible to pass. The “Good News” is that there is good news!

No matter what you’re going through it’s not too much for God to handle. The first thing you must do is give it to Him. Wherever you are God can meet you there. He can bring you out. But first, you must pray for strength to be brave enough to face yourself.

Facing yourself means acknowledging, admitting and accepting that you screwed up, took your eyes off Him, and began to depend on self too much. Put away false pride. Believe with all of your heart that God has already gone before you, and then let go and let God.

“The LORD is my shepherd, I lack nothing.  He makes me lie down in green pastures, he leads me beside quiet waters,  he refreshes my soul. He guides me along the right paths for his name’s sake.  Even though I walk through the darkest valley, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me.  You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies. You anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows.  Surely your goodness and love will follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house of the LORD forever.” (Psalm 23:1-4)
