Do You See the importance of understanding different worldviews?
Understanding worldviews is important because to understand our own worldview we must have an ability to discern the worldviews of others. Worldviews dictate many actions, outcomes, and behaviors of humans. Studying them helps prepare for times when it will become necessary to decide between right and wrong concerning a “worldview” issue.
Who am I? ~ I have a Creator. His name is God the Father. I am a Christian, made in the image of God, an imperfect being unable to save myself, therefore totally dependent on God.
Where do I come from? ~ “Then the LORD God formed a man from the dust of the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life, and the man became a living being.” (Genesis 2-7 NIV)
Why am I here? The Father created me to be a blessing to others, accept Jesus Christ as Savor, while giving God glory, and obeying His will for my life.
Every Christians should have at least one cohesive worldview which is “God is real, He created the universe and everything in it. The Monotheism worldview: One God exists who is separate from but involved with the universe. Of the two worldviews that believe there is a God, only one believes that He is involved with the universe. A deist believes God created an orderly world to operate independently. It does not take a rocket scientist to see how these two differences are major.
The other five worldviews give God little or no relevance. Naturalist take a stance holding a worldview alleging that matter is all that exists and it’s best investigated for the scientific method it does not hold to God as a source card for being the universe. These views merely utter the word God but in no authoritative worldly presence or existence. Nihilism may be the most extreme of the major worldviews in its flirtation with objective truth and positive values, rejecting all religious and moral principles.
agnosticism · atheism
Existentialism, Pantheism, and New Consciousness deny Jesus Christ existed as Lord, that there is a God in Heaven or that life has any divine aspect of any kind, has no objective meaning, significance, and must be subjectively created within. Pantheism is just as ungodly suggesting everything that exists is God (Spirit), Matter, and illusion. From a Pantheists view a horse, car, or pimp could exist as God the Spirit.
New Consciousness ~
Reality is beyond reason and can only be understood by altering the mind. This
one has me scratching my head. Perhaps I do not understand this worldview at all.
No matter how many times I study about it I came away thinking the “New
Consciousness” worldview is that one must get “high” to understand reality,
which I find to be too abysmal to wrap my head around. “For ever since the world was created, people have seen
the earth and sky. Through everything God made, they can clearly see his
invisible qualities–his power and divine nature. So, they have no excuse for
not knowing God.” (Romans 1: 20 NIV)
