New Years Day Food For Thought

“If nothing changes nothing changes, even you”

In arrogance the wicked hotly pursue the poor; let them be caught in the schemes that they have devised. Psalm 10:2 Unfortunately, the desire to cover-up undesirable acts has become more of a norm than not.

Many who choose to get out in front of embarrassing, distasteful or potentially criminal exposure often do so under a veil of falsehoods or deception. Remember this, “evil is committed consciously and of free will. And, the devil can only make you do it if you give him permission.” So, as we embark upon 2020, ask yourself this question: Is there room in my heart and reason to change the way I live?

For some reason, we forget that if nothing changes, nothing changes. Regardless of how many New Year’s resolutions people make, unless each person has a change of heart, nothing they do will make them a better person. And, it’s not just about what you do it is also about what you allow others to do to God’s people. Those who stand to lose the most are self-proclaimed Christians who profess to be messengers of Christ yet protect evil-doers as though their deeds do more good than harm. You know who you are, what denomination you belong to, and who you serve.

The media won’t be covering popular people on judgment day. Furthermore, Jesus will judge those who profane His name, spread false prophesy, and even worse call Satan’s helpers children of God, chosen ones, or the like. As such, there will come a time when the color of our skin really won’t matter. When that time comes, woe to all who have turned a blind eye to obvious wrongdoing, especially actions that have threatened the salvation, spiritual well-being, welfare and emotional health of other people.

Not acknowledging truth does not make it untrue, if anything blatant disregard for facts is a sign of acceptance.

So, how did we get here, and more importantly, “where do we go from here?” The population most affected by America selling a most valuable asset “moral values” are our young people. In error, many are entering adulthood with no sense of character, nor an ability to decipher the true meaning of “good character or virtue.”

Surprisingly, Christians seem to be less concerned by this disturbing, and disappointing phenomenon than non-believers. This fact is clearly evidenced by specific responses to behavior unacceptable to the Lord according to the Bible.

He says in his heart, “I shall not be moved; throughout all generations, I shall not meet adversity.” Psalm 10:6 Evangelicals, deemed one of the largest religious sect in America have boldly demonstrated their support for a President who cages children, disrespects women, tells untruths almost every time his mouth opens, has insurmountable legal troubles, and the worst of them all; been accused of sexually assaulting women. Yes, being accused is not the same as being convicted, but my God, to be in a position that provokes one to be more likely to believe the accusation based on public behavior and reputation should raise mega red flags. Yet, there are those who would rather praise him than God. Go figure.

The question for many Christians today should be, “is Donald Trump worth losing my salvation?” No one in his or her honest but right mind can argue that if President Obama had done a fraction of what President Trump is accused of, he would have been hung, or doing life!

And the tongue is a fire, a world of unrighteousness. The tongue is set among our members, staining the whole body, setting on fire the entire course of life, and set on fire by hell. (James 3:6)

However, let’s be real until Jesus returns there are certain wrongs that will never be made right on earth
