Oxford Dictionary provides an excellent simple definition for the word “potential”… having or showing the capacity to become or develop into something in the future. In my opinion, that’s deep! The first word in the definition that sticks out to me is “capacity.” Why? Well, according to the definition of potential, one must have this thing to effectuate potential. Oxford again? I like this definition for capacity… “the amount that something can produce.” Do I have enough of something in me to produce something potent, outside of myself? As it seems, it is possible to lack the capacity necessary to realize or stimulate potential and for various reasons.
DO YOU HAVE THE CAPACITY TO TRIGGER YOUR FULL POTENTIAL?
While God’s people all have a purpose, some lack the capacity to trigger potential. Not having the capacity to be inspired maybe the most common reason so many fail to deliver their best throughout life. Nobody can be the greatest at everything or the best at everything, all the time. I’m sure you have heard the old saying about being the “Jack of all trades but Master of none.” Surprisingly, some people are happy being just that. The problem with being content in that state is running the risk of never realizing one’s full potential. The reason this occurs is that you must give it all you got to know how much you have in you? Remember the definition of capacity? It is “the amount that something can produce.” That something in this context refers to the max, all you have stored. Capacity is stored. It emerges in the degree called for. Pushing oneself to the limit commands full capacity which in turn triggers absolute potential. Absolute potential leaves no amount of possibility unscathed because its body is manifested of overarching capacity.
God desires us to show we know our purpose by being the best we can be based on what we have to work with.
Disregarding the importance of knowing our purpose in life as well as realizing our capacity to trigger potential is crucial. The good thing about tapping into potential is we do not have to do it alone. We can simply ask God to show us our god-given purpose. Who better than God the Maker of all things to reveal his purpose for your life. There is no question about whether you have the capacity or potential to do God’s will by serving his purpose in this life.
DO YOU HAVE THE CAPACITY TO TRIGGER YOUR FULL POTENTIAL?
When we obey God, He instills ample capacity to realize our potential and accomplish whatever we set out to do. Another thing, nobody can take away a god-given gift. That said, we should refrain from thinking somebody else is trying to be like us? Nobody can do what God sent you out to do better than you, even if, on the surface, it looks that way. You are made from one mold. No two people are the same, which means something unique about you and how you do what you do.
The best way to avoid unhealthy thoughts about someone stealing your thunder is to keep the love of God in your heart. Love is the most powerful weapon in the world. Love heals wounds, wipes away tears, and makes the weak stronger. Most important, having a love for one another is necessary to plea the Father.
Knowing it’s impossible to use God’s gifts and not have love is probably one of the most important bits of information concerning using God’s gifts. In the absence of love, there is no chance of anything good coming about. The Bible tells us that God is love, which means His gifts are given in love to those who love Him, and His. We have to be more than tolerant of each other. We must love one another as well. We will never know our true potential until God shows us our true purpose. Even then, there is more work to be done. Putting in the work is non-negotiable. The work consists of utilizing the full capacity and potential to serve
For I know the plans I have for you, declares the LORD, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope. Jeremiah 29:11 ESV
“We are created in God’s image yet have unique talents?” That’s not an error on the Lord’s part. It’s purposed potential. As individuals, no two humans are designed to look the same, do the same things, think alike. If every man and woman looked alike and had identical talents, somebody might feel that somebody may think their gift is insignificant. To alleviate such thinking, God makes sure that we know how special He thinks we are. That’s what the following scriptures are all about, you, me, and the Father’s love for His purposed potential children.
The purposed potential is a purpose with potential. God establishes purpose while empowering us with potential. There is nobody else like you, me, or any other human in the world capable of carrying out God’s will like the one He assigns it to can. Before we think about whether the deed can be done, God has already ordered our steps. All we need to do is walk upright, look to Him for guidance and direction. No other breathing thing has purpose potential. Yet, God knows each one of us intimately, intricately, right down to the number of hairs on our heads. He made us so that we would always be necessary, truly one of a kind.
Scripture for Understanding Capacity and Potential
The heart of man plans his way, but the LORD establishes his steps. Proverbs 16: 9
You did not choose me, but I chose you and appointed you that you should go and bear fruit and that your fruit should abide, so that whatever you ask the Father in my name, he may give it to you. John 15:16
Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, Matthew 28:19
Synthesyzing Capacity and Potential
So if there is any encouragement in Christ, any comfort from love, any participation in the Spirit, any affection and sympathy, complete my joy by being of the same mind, having the same love, being in full accord and of one mind. Do nothing from rivalry or conceit, but in humility count others more significant than yourselves. Let each of you look not only to his own interests, but also to the interests of others. Philippians 2:1-4
