Old things, specifically old habits, are hard to break. In fact, many people perfect patterns of behavior that threaten salvation. Even worse, some do wrong for so long that deplorable actions seem right. For this reason, souls must be cleansed before they can be born again. Old Things Must Pass Away Before A New Thing is Born!
In short, to be saved, we must first accept Jesus as Lord and Savior. Furthermore, believing God’s Word, and repenting of all sins is not optional.
To be born again entails dying a divine death and coming as a new creature in Christ. A “babe-in-Christ, is the product of rejuvenation, a result of shedding old things.
