In a world of alphabet soup, abbreviations and titles for everything now may be a good time to differentiate between a Christian SPIRITUAL ADVISOR and a self-proclaimed Spiritual Advisor. If you are a Christian you are an advisor by default. Like Jesus, your work is never done. Every opportunity one has to advise according to God’s Word should be taken. We never know when a person in need may cross our path, nor how one in need of ministering may look. What we do know is God expect us to always be on the lookout, be loving, empathetic and a willing intentional participant in the war on leading souls to Christ.
If God overheard you giving a brother or sister advice would He be pleased or saddened by what you said?
2 And Jesus called a little child unto him, and set him in the midst of them,
5 And whoso shall receive one such little child in my name receiveth me.
Matthew 18:1 – 18:7 KJV
Psychics are perfect examples of self-proclaimed spiritual advisors. They work for money not for Christ! I know what you’re thinking, “so do a lot of preachers and other so-called Christians?” Yes, you are correct. Like the psychic, false-prophets call on themselves to feed on God’s flock for personal gain instead of fulfilling the Lord’s commandments in Jesus’ name. The two will stand before the Lord on judgement day and if they do not repent before that day, heaven help them all!
“Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves.”
Matthew 7:15-20
Unless our life’s work is performed in Jesus name the work is in vein. Claiming to have or having natural intuitive and empath talents alone will not set the people helped on the pathway to heaven. Instead, they will be led astray.
“But whoso shall offend one of these little ones which believe in me, it were better for him that a millstone were hanged about his neck, and that he were drowned in the depth of the sea.”
While Christian Spiritual advisors claiming to be filled with the Holy Spirit credit God for all spiritual gifts, self-proclaimed spiritual advisors take credit for outcomes. Why does this matter? Well for starters, the Bible tells us to trust in God from which cometh your help. It does not tell us to depend on man, nor does it tell us man has power equal to God’s infinite force.
“I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills, From whence cometh my help. My help cometh from the LORD, Which made heaven and earth.”
Psalm 121:1-2 KJV
However, there are psychics who claim to be Christians. But, is this possible?

The Bible strongly condemns spiritism, mediums, the occult, and psychics (Leviticus 20:27; Deuteronomy 18:10-13). Horoscopes, tarot cards, astrology, fortune tellers, palm readings, and séances fall into this category as well. These practices are based on the concept that there are gods, spirits, or deceased loved ones that can give advice and guidance. These “gods” or “spirits” are demons (2 Corinthians 11:14-15).

Some spiritual advisors do have unique abilities, which include the power to persuade, coerce, or trick. Other’s, well they are simply fakes. Many prey on peoples weaknesses, or lack of faith to influence, penetrate and profit from. True Christian Spiritual advisors do the opposite. They pray for people’s weaknesses, inspire and encourage them to keep the faith and do everything within the power vested in them to reach the lost. Their profit comes to fruition when God-inspired outcomes materialize. Money is never the common denominator of Christian Spiritual advisors.
The Holy Spirit guides believers in everything they do. Therefore they become equipped to serve as fishermen of people. Unlike psychic spiritual advisors, these chosen ones minister and advise under the auspices of Jesus Christ.
The main job of Christian Spiritual Advisors is to reel out as many lost souls as possible during their lifetime. Rescuing God’s children from the pits of darkness, sorrow, disappointment, confusion, anger and dwindling faith, is what they do.
The tools the two groups use couldn’t be more different or vary more drastically in effectiveness. The main tool of a believer is the Holy Bible. Non-believer’s incorporate a host of secular tools that false pride, arrogance, entail cards, stones, smoke, chants and other man-made things and creations that do not work. Their bag is full of tools and tricks but none capable of accomplishing miracles. Yet, there are still those who hang on their every word, practice what they preach and engage in relying on humans for blessings rather than praying to God for deliverance.
The Father is waiting to send someone to help you out of darkness. He has given the chosen ones strength to lift you above the lowlines that plagues lives every second of the day.
“In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.”
Proverbs 3:6
Whether your most compelling problems, burdens or challenges rest with consequences out of your control but internal chaos or external the Word has the answer. The thing to remember is that believers have a special place in God’s heart when they believe in the Father with all their heart. The Father will never leave you hanging. Even if you feel like the limb is about to break, don’t be afraid. God is always there to catch you if you fall. Having faith is essential to receiving blessings and favor. If you do not believe you will not receive. Believe and receive!
In other words never quit, even when there is no evidence of light at the end of the tunnel. Having faith means to never stop moving forward regardless of apparent uncertainty.
The world tends to minimize the essence of human struggles but God does not. He knows your pain. To rise above situations bringing you down give God the glory and the tribulation.
Be patient! God is not on our time, we are on his. Something we believe should happen in a day or so may not appear on God’s horizon for weeks, months, even years. Be anxious for nothing!
Tips For Pleasing God While Serving Others.
Never minimize other’s struggles
Never judge others
Never lose faith
Never confuse man’s abilities with the Lord’s
Never pretend to be somebody you are not in Spirit
Pray for deliverance, increased faith, direction and wisdom every day
Encourage, inspire and direct others down paths destined to lead to Salvation
Lean not to your own understanding to avoid confusing those you have been sent to save
I challenge each one of you to begin your journey headed out of darkness today.
I promise you won’t regret it.
To experience God’s unconditional love, forgiveness and grace like you’ve never known before try Jesus! Think before you speak,. Even more important, know who you are and what you are capable of. Everybody who comes is not ready to act not has God sent them. Don’t be that person. Ask the Lord to fix your own brokenness before you attempt to fix another’s. Behave in a manner acceptable in God’s sight even in the midst of of uncertainty, anger or shame. Welcome Christ into a life free of chaos and confusion, which He is neither a fan nor an Author of!
Lastly, make an extra effort to try and understand where the person God sent your way is coming from. Refrain from judging because doing so cripples the power to reach people overcome by trials and tribulations, or who in their own eye sight are broken beyond repair.
CONCLUSION
If you are a Christian you are an advisor by default, and like Jesus, your work is never done. Take every opportunity God gives you to impart Christian Spiritual advise according to God’s Word. We never know when a person in need may cross our path, nor how one in need of ministering may look. What we do know is God expect us to always be on the lookout, be loving, empathetic and a willing intentional participant in the war on leading souls to Christ.
