He gives power to the faint, and to him who has no might he increases strength. Isaiah 40: 29
Today is day two of 2021 and God is still in control! Many are saying thank God we made it through, and for those who did not, our prayers and condolences are with families and loved ones.
Currently, America has been inflicted with over 20 million cases of COVID 19 and 348,000 plus deaths!
Most families of those fatally ravaged by the wrath of coronavirus have not buried their dead in the manner most are accustomed to.
Loved ones have been unable to visit them in hospitals, funerals were restricted for months up until recent weeks, and the number of people who can attend funerals is strictly limited to something like 10?
Anyone who has experienced losing a loved one due to death knows something about the traumatic emotional effects of not bury the dead with dignity. Anyone who cares would at least acknowledge the effect and disruption that not holding traditional home-goings has on the people. Yet, the President has failed to speak to the people about this very troubling matter. FYI: GOD IS STILL IN CONTROL
The only conclusion I can draw is he does not care. In short, one cannot expect to see examples of love or empathy come out of a person who has no love in his or her heart. Today, I woke up thinking about all the people who did not get a chance to say goodbye, gather to memorialize a loved one, or bring closure to wounds caused by overwhelming grief and sorrow.
You cannot know the degree of pain brought on by not seeing someone you love who is dying but still alive. If you have love in your heart for your brother and sister, you can feel their pain.
This memorial is for them!
While not harsher than the year I lost my son or the years I lost both parents within a 6-month period or losing my only two sisters, it rates high up on the list. Never in my lifetime would I have imagined an election result, dis-shuffling people, causing them immeasurable pain, grief, chaos, and uncertainty, as the election of the “45th President, Donald Trump” caused. Who knew there would be scores of proclaimed Christians unwilling to accept the truth, tell the truth, or stand up for the truth? I sure did not. At any rate, God is still in control.
The Right keeps talking about Trump’s supporters not accepting election results as if the other 60% of America does not have the right to not care whether he or them accept the results or not! Our votes count whether they accept that or not. As in minorities, we, women, gays, and other disenfranchised populations have come too far to let evil power struck white men take us back to where they left us. God put our past behind us for a reason, and it was not to send us back to reclaim them. All of a sudden, they want to protest? Oh, my God! Do they not remember we wrote the book on protesting?
This means there is no protest the Right can assemble that symbolizes the essence of purposeful resistance like those who came before them and Trump. Fighting for the right to take away rights, reinstall an authoritarian figure to enslave the most oppressed, poor, and weak people in America is a fight you will not win, not today, not ever again. FYI: GOD IS STILL IN CONTROL
They conveniently forget that many of us did not accept the 2015 election results? This is not news. Surely they do not think their beliefs have more merit or should be taken any more seriously than those of us who came to the exact same conclusions about Trump’s election results in 2015? Frankly, many believe he cheated, was helped by Russians, and lost the popular vote to boot! That said, as far as I am concerned, they can like it or lump it! Do not accept it. Accept it with a grain of salt, protest, lie, cheat, steal, or act psychotic! Truth, honesty, and God spelled with a big “G” will prevail!
While I do know racism is far from eradicated, I foolishly believed so-called Christians like Evangelicals would be provoked by faith to take the high road. Boy, I was wrong. So, it seems, we have a new kind of Christian, one who abides by a Bible foreign to many, including Christ Jesus. Of all the Commandments of Jesus, “Love” is the greatest. Put in perspective, the Bible says in Ephesians 21:4-2, “Be completely humble and gentle; be patient, bearing with one another in love.”
In 1 Peter 22: 48, it says, “Above all, love each other deeply, because love covers over a multitude of sins.” You tell me how condoning this last president’s actions could even come close to exemplifying behavior becoming to believers? Let them get infected! Dismantle the peoples’ Post Office by any means necessary! Subject immigrants to cruel and unusual punishment just because they had the audacity to cross borders some of your own family crossed. Of most concern was “45’s” message through his actions that resounded loud and clear, “Whatever you do, do not let access to testing or treatment go near populations not likely to vote for me!”
But wait! There is more. Do anything you can to help me stay in office should I lose, regardless of whether it is legal or not. And, if all that fails, shake up my GOP loyalists, encourage them to enact a Coup or Coup d’état to be politically correct, on my behalf. A Coup is an overthrow, takeover, removal of an existing government from power, through any means necessary, including violence. Apparently, the Right still does not know God is in control.
Until the present, Americans had no reason to be concerned about a “Coup” occurring in the United States. “45” changed all that! Make no mistake, there is reason to be disturbed about the fate of our democracy. On the other hand, everything happens for a reason, as in, God works in mysterious ways. “As for you, you meant evil against me, but God meant it for good, to bring it about that many people should be kept alive, as they are today.” Genesis 50: 20
J. Rutenberg, N. Corasaniti, and Alan Feuer, The New York Times, wrote, “For years, Republicans have used the specter of cheating as a reason to impose barriers to ballot access. A definitive debunking of claims of wrongdoing in 2020 has not changed that message.” As an African-American, I can honestly say I’m tired and sickened about the hypocrisy of many so-called Christian leaders, their followers, and political pawns who use religion as a weapon against its own people.
They would have you believe two types of Christians exist? You know, like, Republican Christians and Democratic Christian who both study God’s Word from identical Bibles. How can that be? At the least, one group is consciously disobeying the Word. I would rather a hypocrite just say that than attempt to insult my intelligence. How can you put kids in cages, let people get infected with a contagious disease on purpose, make it, so the only votes that count are those who voted for you? Then you boast about your Christian values out of the same mouth? God is neither convinced, confused, or amused!
In America, during these last four years, Christianity has been put on trial. In the interim, every Christian was tested. Many failed the test miserably because they could not muster up the kind of love for others Jesus commanded. Instead, their “true identity” came to light. They brought back to light all the prejudices and unquenched thirsts for crooks slave to political and corporate power many believed to be dead and buried. Could it be that these demons never died within some Christian communities and souls?
And, as in the “45,” the Christian movement never said a word about children in cages, women being disrespected, the rule of law being skirted in ways it should never be. Shame on all of you! You cannot honestly say you said nothing about these atrocities because you do not get involved in politics, that would be a blatant lie! Well, “45” himself bragged about the support he garnered from Evangelicals. He bragged about being a Christian, which was even unbelievable to unbelievers. After all, being a Christian requires acts of love, a show of empathy, evidence of the spirit of Jesus Christ within.
Who can honestly say “45” ever demonstrated Christian values or Christian beliefs in any way during his Presidential term or lifetime? Yet Evangelicals allowed the President to pee on the people while pretending he was raining blessings on them. Evangelicals demonstrated no desire to pushback where un-presidential or ungodly behavior was clearly evident. It seems they all believed he would prevail no matter what. However, God’s Word indicated the opposite would likely occur.
The adversaries of the Lord shall be broken to pieces; against them he will thunder in heaven. The Lord will judge the ends of the earth; he will give strength to his king and exalt the horn of his anointed.” 1 Samuel 2: 10
The thing Commander-in-Chief, Prince of Death who if not for the so-called-Christian Evangelical body might not be in office is; ignored transgressions of the President. To allow unacceptable, criminal, harmful behavior is to accept. To accept is to inadvertently approve of the same. At any rate, “45’s” ship is on its last sail, heading toward unchartered tumultuous waters, where he will face the likes of legal battles he has never known. To say “45” is not going down without a fight is as much of an understatement as it is a disgrace. To fight like this to stay in power “45” must be scared as hell!
From lying to the people about when he would be showing his taxes to jumping through all kinds of ridiculous legal hoops to stay in power suggests that this mans knows he cannot defeat the demons he created and nurtured to get where he is today. Now he must face them! He must expose them, feed them and explain how they came to be!
If only people believed what the Bible says, Scripture to be clear. In laymen’s terms ” God does not love ugly! Nobody stays on top forever, and sometimes death is the cause of the fall.” To avoid tarnishing one’s legacy as “45” has single-handedly carried-out against himself, believers must not become arrogant, evil, selfish, greedy or without empathy for others. Looking back over the last years it is not difficult to see why it is necessary to clean house in powerful way, like the Bible speaks of in the following Scripture. ” FYI God is in control yesterday, today and forever!”
“When the Lord your God brings you into the land that you are entering to take possession of it, and clears away many nations before you, the Hittites, the Girgashites, the Amorites, the Canaanites, the Perizzites, the Hivites, and the Jebusites, seven nations more numerous and mightier than yourselves, and when the Lord your God gives them over to you, and you defeat them, then you must devote them to complete destruction. You shall make no covenant with them and show no mercy to them. You shall not intermarry with them, giving your daughters to their sons or taking their daughters for your sons, for they would turn away your sons from following me, to serve other gods. Then the anger of the Lord would be kindled against you, and he would destroy you quickly. But thus shall you deal with them: you shall break down their altars and dash in pieces their pillars and chop down their Asherim and burn their carved images with fire.” Deuteronomy 7: 1-26
